I for one am genuinely excited about this album. One of the most fantastic acts ever to have been heard. I predicted years ago that they would be heading for greatness and I still have faith. The SpiderSimpson EP was just not enough.

This article was posted here by Rosemarie Wise but it was written by me so I now step forward to accept responsibility. I loved Sri Lanka and despite my small number of niggles, I enjoyed the experience of staying at the charming Helga's Folly. This, by the way, was before the recent floods, which occurred about a week after I left Sri Lanka. Helga's Folly is unique, and that is something which should rightly be celebrated. I stand by my comments, however, that for the price which is charged for staying there, there is little excuse for torn sheets and faulty room facilities. I do understand and appreciate that the establishment is also a family home, but if it is being run as a business, it is only natural for customers to expect a professionalism requisite to the amount they are paying.

Dear madam Wise.

The ‘Are You Aware’ page on helgasfolly.com ‘A Sri Lankan’s Home’ website, explains that we are a home open to a few guests and not a boutique or starred emporium. We would not encourage you to stay ‘if expecting a regular hotel experience’.

Unfortunate that you were not able to do so, we are all very sorry about this.

The house is home not just to the De Silva family but also to the staff, some of whom have been here many, many decades.

Helga’s Folly is a love or hate place.

Built by our madam Helga’s parents in the 30’s as a home. Much political history of the island in the house. Madams father, grandfather and grandmother helped secure Independence for the island.

As you must have been aware, 3 ½ months of heavy monsoon rains took its toll. Whole island flooded, many lost their lives and homes. Kandy was hit badly, and 2 of ours lost their lives down the road. 2 landslides behind the house, causing havoc.

Our road was blocked.. Very short staffed as our boys could not get back.

All the rooms have air-conditioning, and the 4 poster bed in 2 with the crown on top which you had, has drapes mostly for adornment. The old 30’s fans likewise. However thank you for drawing our attention to this.

Did you complain at the time? We would have given you another room if so.

The balcony wall has the cover of the Stereophonics single ‘Madam Helga’, and is red, black and white.

No 2 has no lions head painting..All sceneries and a bird batik..Sorry that it was not to your liking.

We keep our rates high as we do not like the house to be full, as our madam says “Spoils the family atmosphere”.

We do hope that you enjoyed our country, in spite of all the floods and chaos.

Hey, nothing's confirmed yet. Some fans in Argentina have been calling the ticket sellers for the festival, and they were told they had absolutely no idea the Stereophonics were playing the festival. We must wait for an official announcement from the band. Unfortunately in South America there's this way of announcing gigs when they're still rumors :(
